Voice phishing, otherwise known as ‘vishing’ is a growing scam where a fraudster poses as a bank representative and tricks innocent people into revealing confidential financial or personal banking information.
Vishing is an exploitation of your trust and used commonly in identity theft, below are some simple tips and steps you can take to protect yourself from vishing attacks:
Hang Up – The easiest way of protection from vishing attacks is to simply hang up the phone call where the caller is asking for confidential financial or personal banking information such as online banking passwords, card numbers, expiry date, CVV and ATM PINs.
If you suspect that you have disclosed your sensitive information to the caller, call back to 1801801 and report what all information has been disclosed for the bank to take necessary action to protect you against fraud.
Definite purpose: Calls should have a definite purpose and make sure you have raised a request with NBK customer care regarding the same. If you have not raised any request or complain with the Bank, do not expect a call from them.
Keep record of the information you shared on the call with the phone number and report this to your branch or relationship officer if in doubt.
